Cloudflare WAF: check protection and the lead path

On October 14, 2026, Cloudflare announced a new blocking rule against RCE exploitation. Event and publication date: October 14. Primary source.

This concerns publishers and advertisers using Cloudflare for their sites. It is a global product update, not evidence of availability in every country or an attack on your site. The documentation distinguishes the paid Cloudflare Managed Ruleset from the separate Free Managed Ruleset; do not assume identical coverage.

What to check

Our recommendation is to ask the responsible specialist to verify the ruleset and exceptions actually applied. Record the check time, ruleset and decision. Having DNS at a provider is not an application-protection report.

Next, visit the normal mobile landing page and run an approved nonbillable form test. Do not create fake paid leads. If it fails, record time, route and request identifier where available, without publishing form contents or secrets. Compare with the site owner's logs. Do not disable all protection to restore one transition: establish the cause and agree a narrowly scoped correction first.

Interpret the evidence carefully

A rule match does not prove compromise; no blocks does not prove safety. WAF updates do not replace application review and patching. Do not guess an affected component from a generic announcement.

For advertisers, the deliverable is a verified request path and named security owner. For publishers, it is a checked landing page before continued placement. These are our operational recommendations, not a claim that the new rule has been enabled in AffiliateCore.
