Mail projects: verify ad inventory before buying traffic

What this guide helps you verify

Buying “Mail.ru traffic” does not tell you where an ad appeared, which context surrounded it, where its button led or which action earns a commission. A publisher needs to turn that broad label into an auditable purchase and a bounded experiment. The deliverables here are an inventory record, an agreed visitor route, a quality ledger and a decision on the next budget.

The examples concern Russia; sources were checked on 18 October 2026. Translation does not extend product availability to another country. Verify the payer’s country, the audience’s location, the territory served by the product and the language separately. Both examples use ordinary business software and an invented external affiliate programme, not an existing AffiliateCore offer. USD amounts are independent teaching assumptions, not conversions from Russian prices or market benchmarks.

This is a guide to source verification and test acceptance. We could not inspect the current ads.vk.com interface, so there are no invented setup buttons or promises that every domain can be selected. If you lack the necessary access, finish with an inventory record marked unverified and keep the budget unspent. An honest incomplete verification is more useful than reporting a launch that never happened.

Distinguish the project, account and placement

VK lists VK Ads as a platform for its projects and ad network [S5]. Its terms identify ads.vk.com and VK LLC [S2]. Mail’s media document links the projects to VK Ads; its stated revision is 27 August 2024 [S3]. These establish relationships, not the contents of your order.

The public Auto Mail [S6], Hi-Tech Mail [S7] and News Mail [S8] sites opened. Site existence is not delivery evidence. Separately, VK announced in-mail enquiries on 12 March 2026 [S4]. An inbox form, an editorial page and a network placement are distinct routes.

The api.mail.ru/apps/ads/ page did not open. It cannot establish current onboarding, migration or closure of myTarget. Neither an old tutorial nor a surviving documentation address proves that a buying account is operational today. Record each document’s date, product and purpose together. If those cannot be established, retain it as a historical candidate rather than a current launch instruction.

Create four records instead of one ecosystem label

Make separate records for four hypotheses. First, Mail inbox inventory: verify the exact format, eligibility and handling of an enquiry. Second, a thematic media project, such as Hi-Tech Mail as a candidate for a software message. Third, a broad news context, where the audience’s immediate intention needs checking. Fourth, a mixed network package. If the package cannot be separated, that is its correct description.

For each record, specify the project URL, proposed section, device, format, account or seller, contracting party, country, placement controls and report granularity. Keep distinct fields for promised, visible in settings and demonstrated by delivery. A screenshot of a selected option does not replace a report showing where advertising actually ran.

Renaming a campaign does not turn a candidate into a verified placement. A label such as mail_test records your hypothesis, not the visitor’s proven origin. If only a network total is available, do not attribute it to Auto Mail or Mail inboxes. A thematic comparison requires a supported breakdown; otherwise the conclusion concerns the mixed package as a whole.

Teaching diagram, not an interface screenshot

Project name → account-eligible format → evidenced placement → agreed route → accepted result

Permissions, geography and required materials

Before launch, prepare authorised access to the ad account, advertiser approval for paid traffic, a product description, a landing page, licensed creative assets, the payable event and an owner for lead review. Do not share passwords with a supplier; agree an authorised access method with limited privileges. An advertising account and an affiliate platform account have different responsibilities.

Check four country conditions: whether your organisation can contract and pay; whether the target audience can be reached; whether the advertiser serves the territory; and whether the product and message are eligible. English-language terms [S10] are not an approved-country list. This research did not establish a complete current country matrix. Do not extrapolate eligibility to the CIS, EU, Türkiye or Brazil from a Russian example.

Show the advertiser the destination and any intermediate pages. Agree the data recipient, collection scope, retention, affiliate disclosure and applicable advertising identification requirements. This article supplies no blanket legal permission. If a necessary document or approval is missing, postpone that test instead of changing the label on the source.

An inventory record and evidence request you can use

A spreadsheet is enough. Use these fields: project and URL; proposed position; device; format; country; account; seller; evidence and date; selection limits; delivery report; payable event; review window; all costs; loss limit; decision owner. Write unknown explicitly. An empty cell can too easily become an assumed agreement.

Example request: “We plan an authorised demonstration of stock-management software for small shops in a supported Russian region. Please specify which placements are available to this account and format, whether reporting separates them, which document defines the purchase and which materials are required for review. Please exclude unverified sites from any promised reach.” This is a draft for your own approval process; no message has been sent.

Attach your own mock creative: “Bring two warehouses into one inventory demonstration. See a sample report and connection requirements.” Use a fictional product screen you own, not a Mail logo suggesting endorsement. The destination should explain the software, requirements, price or quotation process, data recipient and next contact. It must not promise an automatic increase in profit.

Where AffiliateCore can fit

If a suitable approved offer exists, AffiliateCore can organise the affiliate campaign: authorised placement → agreed campaign link → advertiser’s destination → supported event → result review. Match the actual source, territory and event to the offer first. Do not assume a Mail form submission automatically enters our platform.

You can prepare an AffiliateCore publisher profile. We present our platform as an option for affiliate work, not as a seller of Mail placements or a universal form importer. Campaign and conversion records do not establish the availability of a particular offer, support for every payable event or a VK integration.

The worked examples instead use an external software vendor’s programme and its own ledger. If AffiliateCore has no compatible offer, retain the materials and arrange a direct programme. Do not rename a demonstration as a registration or deposit to make it fit. The tracking system must follow the real agreement rather than redefine the business outcome.

Run the test in six verifiable steps

Step 1. Complete two candidate records and choose one question: can verified thematic inventory produce accepted results below your cost ceiling? The output is one hypothesis, not a directory of every service.

Step 2. Confirm permissions and delivery visibility. Save a dated description of available settings without personal information. If an individual placement cannot be evidenced, change the question to evaluation of a mixed package before spending.

Step 3. Prepare the creative, destination and minimum data collection. Check the link on mobile and desktop without generating a fictitious payable conversion. The expected result is the correct page with the agreed campaign label preserved; your own visit is not a customer.

Step 4. Fix the budget and timetable: D1–D7 acquisition, D8–D17 first review; D17 is an interim snapshot, not cohort closure. The agreement allows seven additional calendar days for the 10/30 pending records, with a reasoned final decision due by the end of D24. Complete the meeting and verification or document rejection under the agreed criteria. Missing the deadline does not automatically reject or pay a record: escalate it to its owner, record the breach and keep it unresolved. Scaling and another paid acquisition round are prohibited until the whole cohort is reconciled, pending is zero and disputes are closed. This is a teaching timetable, not a Mail deadline.

Step 5. Activate only the approved configuration. Reconcile spend, available delivery reporting and new enquiries daily. Stop spending immediately if the country is wrong, the link fails or required permission is absent.

Step 6. Once the cohort matures, reconcile duplicates, rejection reasons, reversals and finally accepted results. Preserve the original count and the reason for every adjustment. Full economics, rather than a cheap click, determine the next budget.

Measure quality without inventing attribution

The payable event in this fictional external software programme is an attended, qualified demonstration: a shop owner or inventory manager participates, the business is in an agreed supported Russian region, and a need for inventory management is confirmed. It requires a unique record, evidence that the meeting took place and written advertiser acceptance. An enquiry or booking alone earns nothing. In the examples, 40/25 such demonstrations are accepted, paid and closed by D17; other records do not automatically become revenue. These are invented programme terms, not Mail/VK rules or an AffiliateCore offer.

A minimal ledger contains a pseudonymous ID, date, campaign label, verified placement or unknown, status, reason, decision date and commission. Keep contact information separately with its authorised recipient. Never put phone numbers or email addresses in URLs or campaign labels.

Define a duplicate beforehand, such as another request from the same customer for the same product within an agreed window. That is a rule of the example programme, not a VK rule. Do not merge people merely because they share an IP address, or call a click spike proven fraud. Investigate discrepancies using the aggregate evidence available to you.

Costs include media, creative production, the destination, tools, review labour and applicable fees or taxes. The examples assume the stated amounts already include applicable charges; wider business overhead is not estimated. Recognised revenue is final accepted events after reversals multiplied by the agreed commission. Pending records remain separate and contribute no recognised revenue.

Case 1: a verified thematic placement

Teaching assumption: the external programme approved the source and the supplier’s report verified a thematic placement in a Mail project. This is not a claim that every account offers that selection. The creative invites shop owners to view an inventory demonstration, and the landing page repeats the offer and explains what makes a useful discussion. Broad news inventory is outside this test.

Media cost USD 240, creative 60, the landing page 40, and review plus tools 60. Total C = USD 400.

At D17 there are 100 enquiries in mutually exclusive categories: 15 duplicates; 25 rejected—10 wrong roles, 8 outside the served geography and 7 without an inventory-management need; 10 pending—6 rescheduled demonstrations and 4 awaiting documented role/need checks. Of 50 provisionally eligible bookings, 10 are cancelled before payment: 6 meetings did not take place and 4 failed the role check. The other 40 demonstrations took place, qualified, were paid and are closed. Snapshot reconciliation: 15 + 25 + 10 + 10 + 40 = 100. Those 40 outcomes are closed; the cohort is not. Pending decisions are due by D24.

All revenue, costs per result and net results below describe closed paid events at D17 against the full budget already incurred. They are not final cohort profit: pending outcomes and any additional costs still need reconciliation. Placement evidence does not establish incrementality.

Commission r = USD 15. Revenue is 40 × 15 = USD 600; the result after listed costs is 600 − 400 = +USD 200. Raw enquiry cost is USD 4; accepted-result cost is USD 10. Return on those costs, defined as (revenue − cost) / cost, is 50%. This is not the advertiser’s business profitability.

Break-even requires rounding upwards: 400 / 15 = 26.67, or 27 payable results. A 20% commission buffer sets the accepted-result ceiling at USD 12. For a separate hypothetical mature cohort with the same budget and 30 closed paid results, cost becomes USD 13.33: the test still earns USD 50 after listed costs but misses the buffer.

At D17, keep new paid acquisition paused. The stress calculation with 30 outcomes describes a separate hypothetical mature cohort at the same budget, not reversals of the 40 already closed payments. Discuss another bounded test only after all 10 pending records are resolved, disputes closed and actual costs reconciled; reaching D24 alone does not permit scaling.

Case 2: cheaper enquiries from a mixed package

A second fictional supplier sells a broad package labelled Mail without a verified project breakdown. The publisher records it as mixed inventory, uses a separate label and retains the same acceptance logic. “See a sample inventory report” attracts people expecting a free spreadsheet rather than a demonstration of paid software.

Media cost USD 300, creative 60, the destination 60, and review plus tools 80: C = USD 500.

At D17, of 200 enquiries, 40 are duplicates; 90 are rejected—40 wanted only a free spreadsheet without a software need, 30 have the wrong role and 20 are outside geography; 30 are pending—18 rescheduled demonstrations and 12 role/need checks. Of 40 provisionally eligible bookings, 15 are cancelled before payment: 9 meetings did not take place and 6 later proved outside the served territory. The remaining 25 demonstrations took place, qualified, were paid and are closed. Reconciliation: 40 + 90 + 30 + 15 + 25 = 200. Closed paid events represent 12.5% at D17 versus 40% in the first snapshot, not the final conversion rates of these unfinished cohorts. Decisions on the 30 pending records are due by D24.

All revenue, costs per result and net results below describe closed paid events at D17 against the full budget already incurred. They are not final cohort profit: pending outcomes and any additional costs still need reconciliation. Placement evidence does not establish incrementality.

At r = USD 15, revenue is USD 375 and the result is −USD 125. Raw enquiry cost of USD 2.50 looks attractive beside the first test, but accepted-result cost is USD 20. Break-even requires 34 results. Even if five pending records become payable, revenue reaches only USD 450, leaving a USD 50 loss.

Suppose a documented delivery defect produces an actually received USD 50 refund. Net cost becomes USD 450, the result −USD 75, accepted-result cost USD 18 and break-even 30 events. This is an assumed contractual refund, not a VK promise. Do not reduce cost before receipt. Stop expansion and clarify both the message and inventory composition; these data cannot support blaming a particular Mail project.

Teaching check of full costs

1: 40 × 15 − 400 = +200 USD.

2: 25 × 15 − 500 = −125 USD.

2: 500 − 50 = 450; 25 × 15 − 450 = −75 USD.

Diagnose the problem before changing the budget

Many clicks but few enquiries call for checks of message continuity, page loading and a working contact route. Many enquiries but low acceptance call for a review of expectations, territory, duplicates and product criteria. Spending without a known source is first an observability problem: do not infer a specific domain’s traffic quality from it.

Do not change placement, offer, form and evaluation window at once. The next bounded test should answer one question. For a mixed package, that might be message clarity; for verified inventory, audience suitability. Two small cohorts do not establish causality: seasonality, the auction and the team handling requests can also change the outcome.

Pause immediately for permission failures or a broken route. Resume only after correction and verification. Consider expansion after mature reconciliation, an adequate cost buffer and confirmation of the next purchase’s composition. Unspent budget does not have to be exhausted merely to declare an experiment complete.

Your practical assignment and handover checklist

Choose one project and one mixed package. Fill in their records, attach a source or the word hypothesis to every claim, prepare your own creative and recalculate both examples using your costs. Before paying, establish country, eligible product, seller, placement or explicit uncertainty, total budget, payable event, reversal rules and decision owner.

Give the reviewer four artifacts: the inventory record, approved creative, pseudonymous quality ledger and final economics. They should be able to reproduce the conclusion without other people’s personal data. A public project page proves a page exists; a contract defines terms; a delivery report supports actual placement only to its stated granularity.

With those materials, open your AffiliateCore publisher account and check a campaign’s compatibility. If none fits, continue arranging a direct programme without promising earnings. The Russia traffic-source map helps compare channels. This guide helps substantiate a particular purchase inside an ecosystem; it does not replace platform or offer terms.

Sources and limits

Sources checked on 18 October 2026. Diagrams, the record template and calculations are our editorial method, not account features. Historical document revisions are identified; current countries, specific placements and account eligibility need separate verification.
