Yandex Advertising Network for publishers: inventory, creative and traffic quality

The publisher’s job in this guide

A publisher buying traffic has two separate economic relationships. The advertising platform charges for delivery under its contract, while an advertiser or affiliate programme pays only for the agreed result. A cheap visit can therefore be an expensive acquisition. This guide produces a creative brief, a placement review and a closed cohort ledger that connect those relationships without treating platform goals as earned commission.

The geographical scope is Russia. Sources were checked on 18 October 2026; an English adaptation does not establish availability in another country. We examine ordinary business software, with no gambling recruitment. Both scenarios are invented exercises. USD budgets are independent assumptions, not exchange-rate conversions, Yandex prices, customer results or live AffiliateCore offers. The publisher buys network traffic; this is not a guide to earning money by displaying Yandex advertisements on a website.

Our AffiliateCore platform is a general CPA network for publishers and advertisers. Start by checking the actual permitted product, source and payable event. If none is available, keep the brief as preparation. A completed service sale, software subscription purchase or demonstration request must not be presented as a supported payable conversion merely because it can be described in a spreadsheet.

Understand what a network placement means

Yandex describes a network spanning its services and partner properties. Inventory is not a hand-picked list of websites. Your task is to understand where exposure occurred and whether the resulting audience understood the offer. A visitor reading unrelated content may still have a relevant interest; the site’s topic alone does not establish either relevance or fraud. Conversely, a recognizable domain does not guarantee accepted registrations.

Separate the placement, the audience condition, the creative and the destination in your worksheet. “Mobile” describes a device context, not a single source. A website, application and external network identifier need different interpretations. Preserve the exact reported identifier rather than guessing the company behind an unfamiliar name. Unknown identifiers stay unknown until checked through legitimate documentation or support.

The current documentation also mentions blogger inventory. A network-only setting does not prove that all possible delivery is confined to ordinary websites. This guide does not authorize Telegram or other restricted placements in Russia. Before any live purchase, establish which inventory the selected product may use and whether lawful delivery can be ensured. If this cannot be established, do not launch: prepare materials and seek a documented answer instead of buying traffic first and investigating later.

Confirm the commercial and legal route

Obtain written permission for paid network traffic from the offer owner. Record the serving country, product, landing page, brand-use permission, allowable audience, payable event, duplicate rule, review deadline and reversal window. Permission for organic articles is not permission to buy advertisements. A brand owner may permit its product to be mentioned while prohibiting particular paid tactics or destinations.

Check current Direct requirements and prohibited categories as well as the applicable advertising obligations. Establish who supplies advertiser details, completes required identification and reporting, and retains the relevant records. Approval by an affiliate manager does not override law or platform rules. A transition period concerning enforcement on a restricted resource is not a direct permission to advertise there.

For the teaching contract below, the result is a genuine new registration for a trial of ordinary software, accepted under agreed criteria. It is not a purchase or a service sale. This is a hypothetical independent programme; implementation in AffiliateCore remains unverified. You can prepare a publisher profile and present your source and materials for discussion, without assuming that a matching programme or automatic approval exists.

Build a creative that qualifies the visit

Choose a specific task, such as organizing files shared by a small design team. The creative should explain who the software is for and what a visitor will see. A working text is: “Shared project files: compare access roles and trial limits before registering.” The destination must actually show those roles and limits. Do not promise a free permanent plan if only a limited trial exists.

Prepare two genuinely different explanations rather than changing a button colour and calling it a new hypothesis. Version A can show a clearly labelled educational permission diagram. Version B can show a licensed product screenshot with a short explanation of folder ownership. Record image rights, product version, claim evidence, crop checks, mobile preview and destination version. Neither image should imitate an operating-system alert or disguise the advertisement as a download control.

The brief contains an acceptance test: a reader should identify the product, trial restriction, next action and any payment condition before submitting details. Check both a narrow mobile preview and a larger format. If cropping removes a qualifier, move that qualification into visible copy or choose another image. Review generated variants too; supplying a correct original does not prove every rendered variant preserves the intended meaning.

Prepare a bounded network campaign

In a campaign type that supports it, use the documented network-only placement setting and save the configuration. That separates this exercise from a search-versus-network comparison. It does not solve every inventory restriction: complete the eligibility check above first. Record the selected strategy, charged event, budget limits, dates and destination. Never describe a target cost as a guaranteed hard ceiling for every conversion.

Create one understandable audience hypothesis per test. A context concerning team documents is different from a broad promise of “productivity for everyone”. Do not copy a long search-query exclusion list blindly into the network. Review the current group settings and their effects; do not invent precise controls that the account does not offer. Record automatic recommendations or changes that could alter the experiment.

Check the whole destination path before spending. The page must be useful and truthful, with a visible relationship to the advertised software. An intermediate page is not a device for hiding the final destination. Use only an authorized tracking route that passes moderation and preserves agreed identifiers. If this cannot be verified, stop the setup rather than introducing cloaking, hidden redirects or an unsupported tracking claim.

Create three linked records

Teaching diagram: approved creative → permitted placement → useful destination → genuine registration → review → accepted result → reversal window closed. The first record is Direct delivery and expense; the second is the landing-page or programme record; the third is final affiliate remuneration. A platform goal and an approved payable registration may have different definitions and clocks.

Use nonpersonal experiment labels, such as batch, creative and cohort IDs. Follow the documented URL-parameter syntax only where it is supported. A label does not automatically join Direct, analytics and AffiliateCore. Confirm the link with the real supported process; do not put telephone numbers, email addresses or sensitive audience descriptions in URLs. Internal checks must not create fictitious paid conversions.

Your ledger needs contact or registration ID, original date, creative, reported placement when reliably available, review status, reason, provisional reward, final reward and closure date. Do not allocate unknown placements proportionally to clicks and then call the result exact attribution. Record unknowns separately. Freeze one review window for comparisons; an unresolved registration is neither approved income nor a rejection.

Investigate a placement without inventing fraud

Open the placement report for the relevant campaign and period. Confirm the selected goals and attribution before comparing rows. Review expense, clicks, downstream registrations and mature accepted outcomes together. Where your external ledger cannot be joined at placement level, disclose that limitation and compare only at the level the evidence supports. Do not manufacture placement profitability from unrelated totals.

A high click rate with poor acceptance can result from accidental taps, a confusing image, slow loading, unsuitable geography or a real quality problem. Inspect the landing page and rejection reasons before deciding which explanation fits. Keep the timestamped report, creative version and a description of the discrepancy. An anomaly is grounds for investigation, not a public accusation of bots.

Exclusions have product-specific limits; they are not a universal whitelist or a promise to disable an entire external network. Use the official exclusion controls only where applicable. A prohibited or materially unsafe placement requires action regardless of sample size. An economic exclusion needs enough mature information to distinguish a repeated pattern from a handful of observations. Our numerical thresholds below are exercise rules, not statistical proof or Yandex recommendations.

Scenario one: a focused software trial

Assume an independent programme has explicitly authorized the product, Russian audience, lawful inventory and tracking route. The publisher prepares the permission diagram, two accurate texts, a trial-limit page and a reconciliation sheet. Collect registrations for 14 days, allow 14 more for review and seven for reversals. Day 35 closes this exercise; all records have final decisions. This schedule is a teaching assumption, not a platform standard.

The complete acquisition budget is USD 600 media, USD 90 creative, USD 60 page work, USD 40 measurement setup, USD 80 labour for checks and reconciliation, and USD 30 assumed non-recoverable taxes and fees. Total: USD 900. Media is entered net of any credited invalid delivery; no further credit is assumed. Labour includes unsuccessful registrations. General fixed business overhead is excluded, so the result is not net company profit.

There are 120 submitted registrations. Twenty repeat earlier records and are rejected; of the remaining 100, another 25 fail the agreed qualification conditions. Seventy-five are initially accepted, but 15 are reversed within the contract window. Sixty remain payable and none is pending. Rejections and reversals earn zero; the exercise assumes no additional penalty, service fulfilment cost or separate reversal fee.

The final commission is USD 20 per payable registration: 60 × 20 = USD 1,200. Contribution after acquisition is 1,200 − 900 = USD 300. Full cost per payable result is 900 / 60 = USD 15. Media cost per submission, 600 / 120 = USD 5, answers a different question. At the unchanged commission, 45 final results cover the acquisition budget. Contribution relative to cost is 33.33%, not a guaranteed investment return.

Before starting, the exercise sets a USD 16 maximum full acquisition cost and a reversal ceiling of 20% of initially accepted registrations. Actual reversals are 15 / 75 = 20%; cost is below its ceiling. Passing these arithmetic rules is necessary, not sufficient. Inspect the reversal reasons and verify spare review capacity. A second mature cohort must pass before considering a bounded 15% media increase from USD 600 to USD 690; preparation and processing costs must be recalculated separately.

The teaching acceptance rule requires a business in the programme’s served Russian region, a team of 2–20 people, a genuine request to try shared-file software, a voluntarily confirmed contact and no earlier trial registration for that business. No purchase, deposit or paid upgrade is required. The 25 qualification rejections comprise ten outside the served geography, eight outside the team-size range and seven without contact confirmation by the agreed deadline. These are invented audit findings, not automatic fraud verdicts.

The 15 reversals consist of nine previously undetected duplicate business registrations and six withdrawals before final remuneration was accepted. They were provisionally accepted, not irrevocably paid. Each reversal has an individual reason and date in the ledger; none is counted again among the initial 20 duplicates. The exercise assumes the provisional reward is removed without an additional penalty and that nobody must buy software to avoid a reversal.

Scenario two: attractive clicks, weak remuneration

A second independent programme concerns a project-planning trial. The original creative emphasizes an impressive planning dashboard but does not clearly foreground the small-team eligibility condition. The page does disclose it. This is a teaching mismatch to repair, not permission to mislead. Prepare a corrected text, a visible eligibility panel and a two-placement-group review. Use the same 14 + 14 + 7 day observation schedule and no new spending while unresolved outcomes could change the decision.

Costs are USD 420 media, USD 80 creative, USD 50 page work, USD 30 measurement, USD 90 handling and analysis, and USD 30 assumed non-recoverable taxes and fees: USD 700. There are 140 submissions, 30 duplicates, 110 unique records and 50 qualification rejections. Sixty are initially accepted; 25 are reversed, leaving 35 final payable registrations. All remaining records are closed. Unsuccessful-record labour is already included; separate reversal fees are assumed absent.

At USD 16 commission, earned remuneration is 35 × 16 = USD 560. The result is 560 − 700 = minus USD 140 before fixed overhead. Full acquisition cost is USD 20, although media cost per submission is only USD 3. Forty-four final payable results are required to cover USD 700: round 700 / 16 upward, not down. Reversals are 25 / 60 = 41.67%, exceeding the predeclared 20% ceiling. A USD 14 full-cost ceiling is also missed.

For diagnosis, assume reliable identifiers join the two placement groups to final outcomes. Group A spent USD 180 on media, generated 50 submissions and 20 final results; B spent USD 240, generated 90 submissions and 15 final results. Allocate the USD 280 common costs by media share solely for this exercise: USD 120 to A and USD 160 to B. Full costs are USD 300 and USD 400; contributions are USD 20 and minus USD 160, summing to minus USD 140. Allocation is a management convention, not a causal estimate.

Stop expansion. Do not claim B is fraudulent or that A is ready for scale from this single cohort. First bring the team-size condition into the creative and check mobile comprehension; preserve the old results. A separately capped retest needs the lawful inventory gate, the same acceptance definition and a fresh cost ledger. If tracking cannot identify groups reliably, discard the group-level conclusion while retaining the valid whole-cohort loss.

Here the teaching eligibility rule is a business in the served Russian region, 2–10 team members, a real request to try the project planner, confirmed voluntary contact and no previous trial for that business. Buying a subscription is not a condition. The 50 qualification rejections comprise 15 outside the served region, 25 outside the team-size range and ten without timely contact confirmation. The 30 initial duplicates are a separate group.

Of the 25 later reversals, ten are duplicate businesses discovered during reconciliation and 15 are withdrawals before final remuneration acceptance. They are distinct from the earlier rejected duplicates. Keep the provisional acceptance and later reversal timestamps; a late check must not silently erase history. These invented reasons explain the loss without accusing the placement of fraud or treating a decision not to purchase as a payable-event failure.

Close the test before buying more

The publisher’s decision sheet has four outcomes: do not launch, stop and repair, repeat within a limit, or cautiously expand after another mature cohort. Legal uncertainty, misleading materials, broken measurement or missing source permission mean do not launch or stop immediately. A low price per click cannot compensate. With no payable results, cost per payable result is undefined; the spent budget remains a loss, not zero acquisition cost.

Before a repeat, archive settings, rights, copies, destination, source permission, full expense evidence, status changes and unresolved issues. Name one correction and the person responsible. Keep committed costs separate from cash already spent. If the advertiser changes commission or acceptance rules, create a new cohort; do not rewrite historical returns using the new rate.

For an available and separately verified AffiliateCore offer, sign in as a publisher and compare its actual terms with your worksheet. Direct remains the advertising buyer interface; AffiliateCore is not promised to import its placement reports, send goals back or approve arbitrary registrations. If no suitable supported route exists, retain the research or use a separately authorized programme. The practical deliverable remains useful without registration.

Your final assignment is one permitted inventory decision, two reviewed creative variants, a mobile destination check and a closed remuneration calculation. Another colleague should be able to reproduce the totals and explain every rejection. For the different advertiser-side question, see the Search versus network comparison. This guide instead evaluates the publisher’s network inventory, message and accepted commission.
