IAB draft: review your advertising measurement terms

On September 22, 2026, IAB released Measurement Services Addendum v1.0 for consultation until October 22. Source: IAB.

Who should pay attention

This concerns teams buying or providing advertising analytics. It is an industry draft, not a new law or an automatic change to AffiliateCore terms. The following is our editorial checklist, not a summary of the draft's clauses.

Questions for advertisers

  • Which system is authoritative when a conversion is disputed?
  • Who retains external IDs, event timestamps and corrections?
  • What exports are available when changing suppliers?

Request a sample report and reconciliation of one test event before scaling. Agree on a response deadline and named owner for discrepancies. Dashboard access is not the same as access to underlying data.

Questions for publishers

Agree on the payable event, attribution window, permitted sources and rejection reasons. Keep the terms version in effect at launch. Send event IDs and the relevant period when reports disagree, rather than only a screenshot of the total.

The practical output is a short, agreed measurement checklist before media buying. The IAB draft offers a reason to discuss this with suppliers; assess its legal applicability separately with counsel.
